Maintaining picking accuracy while skipping strings is a significant challenge. This exercise focuses on string and fretboard mechanics rather than tonality.
Played in the fifth position, the pattern follows this structure:
- First phrase: 1–2–1, 2–3–2, 3–2–3, 4–3–4
- Second phrase: 4–3–4, 3–2–3, 2–1–2
Start slowly and make sure each note is played with control and consistency. Progress will come not from increasing speed too soon, but from developing evenness and accuracy. Let speed build naturally over time.
