Quiet Conversation

“Quiet Conversation” was written in 1993 while studying film music and composition at UCLA. Originally an arranging assignment for woodwinds, the piece naturally took on an introspective character. Later, when I introduced it in a jazz setting, I used that quality as a foundation for the band to interact—musically carrying on a quiet, thoughtful conversation. Although I never recorded it with On The Mile, the piece was a source of deep inspiration for us. Decades later, I revisited and recorded it with Tom Glenn for our album Continuum.
