“Mike’s Groove” was composed on November 21st, 2024, for my good friend and exceptional drummer, Michael Brucher. It’s the second piece I’ve written for him—the first being Brucher the Cooker. Mike’s playing style and unwavering dedication to musicality are at an incredibly high level, and this composition reflects both my admiration and appreciation for his artistry. After completing the A section, I paired it with a different melody I had been developing, which turned out to be the perfect fit for the B section.
