“Advanced Notice Required” was written for RedShift, with the bass line serving as the foundation of the tune. The piece is essentially constructed as a two-line melody, with harmony introduced only at the bridge. The contrast between sections A and B is intentional, highlighting dynamic shifts in mood and texture. Composed two to three years after I joined the band, this piece reflects the distinct personality and chemistry that had developed within the group by that time. Written during the Covid pandemic lockdown this piece also appeared in my “Quarantine 2020” project.
