Whiskey Tango

Written in 2017 for RedShift this piece started out as a Tango but soon transformed into a Reggae. The title “Whiskey Tango” seemed appropriate. The genesis of the song was a groove and a sequence of four chords, which eventually became the foundation for the solo section. I leaned into the traditional sound of the minor key, and to my surprise, it led to some unexpected and unusual phrases. The A section is a five bar phrase followed by a four bar phrase and the bridge is built on two six bar phrases. RedShift recorded this song for our CD Convergence and went on to perform it regularly.
