“On What” was originally composed in 1995 for my band Exit Only. Since then, it has evolved—filtered through the lens of every band I’ve been part of. In retrospect, its up-tempo feel and bright melody make it especially accessible, both for listeners and performers. Tom Glenn and I recorded it for our debut CD, Jazz Dance. I also used the song for my Quarantine 2020 project.
