Much like “D” and “1987”, Moon in February was composed during my early years of writing music. Written as a solo guitar piece, it’s characterized by its repetitive structure. At the time, I was listening to a lot of Philip Glass, and his influence can be heard. In the 1980s, guitarists like Michael Hedges and William Ackerman were defining figures in New Age music—a genre that intrigued me and was also an influence.
