Written for my dog, Bonnie, “B” was written for my Quarantine 2020 project. The opening minor IV chord is a direct reflection of her personality—gentle, mellow, and loving. The chord progression draws influence from the harmonic language of Antônio Carlos Jobim and João Gilberto, evoking the Brazilian bossa nova. The use of long notes and space, inspired by my studies with Pat Martino. Impressionistic in nature, the piece leans on harmony not only as progression but also as texture.
