This piece, composed on May 19, 2023, was never formally titled. RedShift rehearsed and performed it several times. The composition begins centered in G minor but gradually moves through other modalities before returning to its starting tonal center—a harmonic approach that is typical of my work.
Set to a medium swing tempo, the melody drives forward with frequent anticipations, giving it a subtle urgency. For the solo section, I simplified the changes to give the improviser greater freedom of expression.
