“Sudden Appearance” was written in two waves. On March 5th, 2022, I composed an eight-bar melody and tucked it away for about a year. When I later composed the song’s opening section, the two parts came together naturally, completing the piece. The intro provided a great opportunity for a drum solo, setting the tone before the main melody enters. That melody plays with tension and resolution against the harmony, giving it a sense of forward momentum. RedShift has performed this piece many times.
