Written in 1985 (to the best of my recollection), Lotus is part of a series of solo guitar pieces I composed to expand my classical and fingerstyle abilities. I have a vague memory of writing it during a ski trip to the Pocono Mountains, though I can’t say that with certainty. Regardless of its exact origin, I’ve always appreciated the simplicity of the piece. Even after setting it aside for years, it has remained easy to recall—and even now, nearly 40 years later, I still enjoy playing it.
