Jenna Beth

I composed Jenna Beth in 1988, the year my niece Jenna was born. My intention was to create a simple, lyrical melody. Writing something truly simple can be deceptively difficult. It was important to me that the piece still felt personal—that it reflected my own compositional style. To support the melody and bring emotional depth, I used chords that push the boundaries of the key without overshadowing the melody.
